Tip When Using Thinlits Dies

I am in the middle of creating 60+ cards for our team card swap at the Stampin' Up! Convention coming up soon.  Members of our team will be meeting to swap cards that we have made.  I used my Tropical Thinlits Dies so many times that the card stock was beginning to stick to the dies. If this ever happens to you, here's a tip:
Although our Thinlits Dies come designed with tiny holes through which to poke a die pick, helping to release the shapes, sometimes the card stock become difficult to remove from the dies. In order to free the dies after cutting, place a piece of wax paper or a dryer sheet between the die and the card stock before cutting. You'll be amazed how quickly and easily the card stock will release from the die.

Pumpkin Centerpiece Using Country Lane DSP and Mason Jar Bands - DIY


One of the September challenges in our Stampin' Up! group was to make a home decor project. For this project I tried something new for me, making a pumpkin centerpiece made of 22 wide mason jar bands. Instead of painting the bands I used 1/2" strips of Country Lane Designer Series Paper (#147804 - page 43 Holiday Catalog). String all of the bands together using hemp, yard or wire and tie a knot tightly to form a circle. For the stem I used a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and covered it with hemp wired ribbon. For the leaves I used Cajun Craze cardstock, cut out two ovals and ran them through the Swirls & Curls Impressions Embossing Folder.

Laura's Stamping Place - What Do You Do With Your Paper Scraps?

Good morning! What do you do with your paper scraps? Yesterday I stumbled upon Debbie Henderson's blog and was inspired by a card she had made. What a fun and easy way to use up some of my scraps. Here's what I created.


For my card I used the Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (page 29) from the Holiday Catalog. Debbie used the Classic Label Punch to cut out the DSP but since I don't have that punch, I used one of the Handpicked Framelits Dies and cut swatches of both sides of each sheet of paper that gave me lots of pattern options. I then placed the paper strips vertically, tilting them randomly throughout the front of the card.
Details:
  • Card Base - Tranquil Tide Cardstock cut to 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 and scored in the middle.
  • Matting - A piece of  Whisper White cardstock cut to 5 1/4 x 4. 
  • Joyous Noel Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) was cut using the Handpicked Framelits Dies but you could also use the Classic Label Punch (page210 Annual Catalog) or the Petals & More Thinlits (page 218 Annual Catalog).
  • After adhering the strips of DSP to my matting, I tied a piece of Merry Merlot & Copper Reversible Ribbon around the matting and over the DSP strips.
  • Cut out the tag using the Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies (Page 5 Holiday Catalog) and a piece of Whisper White card stock.
  • Stamp the tag using the "Happiest Christmas Wishes" stamp from the Dashing Deer Clear-Mount Stamp Set (Page 5) using the Cherry Cobbler Classic Ink Pad.
  • Adhere the layers onto the card using Snail Adhesive or Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Stampin' Dimensionals for the tag.

Laura's Stamping Place - Tropical Chic Card With Nature's Poem DIY


Hello Everyone!
I'm having so much fun creating cards with the elements of the Tropical Chic Stamp Set and Tropical Thinlits Dies (page 121 Annual Catalog). Today's card is made with Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper (page 189 Annual Catalog).



Details of the card are as follows:
  • Card Base - Tranquil Tide Cardstock cut to 8 1/2 x 4 1/4 and scored in the middle.
  • Matting - A piece of  Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper cut to 5 1/4 x 4, then run through the Big Shot with the Swirls & Curls Textured Embossing Folder
  • Smaller Matting - Tranquil Tide Cardstock cut to 2 3/4 x 4 3/4 with a piece of Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper cut to 2 1/2 x 4 1/2
  • Fern cut from the Tropical Thinlits Dies in Tranquil Tide and a piece of Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper
  • Leaf  - A piece of Nature's Poem Designer Series Paper cut with Tropical Thinlits Dies
  • Sentiment from the Happiest Birthday Wishes Stamp Set stamped onto Whisper White Cardstock cut to 1 x 3 3/4. Matting for sentiment - Piece of Nature's Poem (DSP) cut to 1 1/4 x 4.
  • Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Swirls & Curls Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

The beautiful new Swirls & Curls Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on Page 5 of the 2018 Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog gives a wonderful impression without any other help. 
Here's a tip. If you are having issues with getting great definition with any of your older embossing folders, try lightly spritzing your card stock before putting it into the embossing folder and running it through your Big Shot.  It definitely gives your card stock more definition. The card stock on the left was embossed without spritzing and the card stock on the right was lightly spritzed with water.
